The VA’s Community-Based Outpatient Clinic held an open house Tuesday to demonstrate the latest in telehealth technology. The process allows doctors and other providers to assess patients remotely for simple procedures. Ben Davitt, a TCT at the Knoxville C-BOC, explains many times these check-ups or pre-ops can last a half-hour or less. Telehealth helps create an alternative to traveling to Des Moines for those appointments and all the hassles that go with it. He explains the technology has been around for a while, and hopes veterans become more aware of its availability.
