Demolition begins this morning on 110 and 108 East Robinson Street in Knoxville. Assistant City Manager Dylan Feik tells KNIA/KRLS News that the contractor is expected to begin the work at 7am. A fire partially destroyed both properties, and the owner of the property where the fire started didn’t have insurance on the building. Feik says that rather than leave a blighted building stand on the square, the City Council made the decision to acquire both properties and demolish them. Feik adds that they haven’t decided what to do with the property moving forward, but they will be open to ideas and discussions.
