Knoxville Police Officer Kenny Hucks has been named the School Resource Officer for this upcoming school year. Police Chief Dan Losada made that announcement this morning. Hucks has been a part of the department for 18 years, working patrol, with the regional drug task force, and as a field training officer.
Losada explains that the school resource officer position was created after the department received a federal grant allowing them the department to hire a veteran at minimal cost. That veteran is in training right now and will be replacing Hucks as a patrol officer.
Losada adds the Police Department is excited to be working with the Knoxville Community School District to make the position possible and thanks them for their help in creating and funding the position.
