It was an unprecedented journey, but the run ended Thursday afternoon for the Twin Cedars baseball team. The Sabers managed three hits on the day and were stifled by the top-ranked Mason City Newman Knights 3-0 in the Class 1A state semifinals. This was Twin Cedars’ second trip ever to the state tournament – the first one was in 2003. The Sabers finished 36-3 on the year; that’s a record number of wins for the program.
