School Board August

The Pella Community School Board met last night. Career Academy agreements with DMACC, and Vermeer Corporation were approved, and an acceptable bread bid was also agreed upon. After failing to secure a bid from outside vendors, including the former supplier Earth Grains, the school board looked locally to Jaarsma and Vander Ploeg bakeries. After some adjustments to loaf sizes to fit state regulations, both bakeries were excellent options, and their bids were accepted. Vander Ploeg will supply the school district for the first semester, followed by Jaarsma in the second half of the year. Pella Community Schools start class next Tuesday the 20th, and the next board meeting is Monday the 26th.
