Several Marion County residents have already won prizes for their work at the State Fair. Sierra McCullough, of Knoxville, won 4-H Champion Junior Western Horsemanship. Barbara De Wit of Tracy won best crocheted afghan. Katheryn Hollingshead, of Pleasantville, won four Fabric and Threads Machine Knitting contests. Denis Johansen and Dwayne Mortenson, both of Knoxville, were both winners in woodcarving competitions. In the 4-H poultry contest, Attylissa Bailey, of Hamilton, won Champion American, and Camryn Norton, of Knoxville, won Champion Miscellaneous. Bailey Core, of Pleasantville, had the Champion Chianina Heifer in the FFA beef show. In the FFA Swine show, Core also had the Light Weight Gilt Champion.

Brenda Becker and Linda Rozendaal, both of Pella, won Amateur Sugar Artistry and Adult Open Tiered, in the Decorated Cakes competition, respectfully. In woodcarving, Bob Kroese claimed victory in the Floating, Painted Ducks & Geese Decoy category. He also took top honors in the Wild Fowl, Miniature Birds division and walked away with Best in Show. James Shriver of Pella, earned a Blue Ribbon for his Fruit and Spec 2 entry in the Best Beer Brews competition. Tassel Ridge received three Gold awards for their entries in the Iowa Wine Commercial Competition. Nathan Boldt of Pella won the blue ribbon for Champion Miniature Horse Showmanship in the 4-H Horse and Pony competition, and Wendy Street of Pella took home the top prize in the Blackwork Embroidery competition.
