There are several things parents need to keep tabs on as they get ready to send their children back to school in the fall. School supply lists, books, athletic equipment – and, of course, immunizations. At Knoxville Hospital and Clinics, parents may walk in with their children to get those vaccines updated. However, it’s recommended that you call first so that a nurse can look over your child’s file and see what shots may need to be updated. A new law goes into effect this fall that requires all students entering 7th grade that are born on or after September 15th to get a T-DAP vaccine. This is in response to last year’s outbreak of pertussis, or whooping cough, which plagued many school districts in the state.
