The Marion County Democrats will be showing a documentary in October that focuses on local water quality. Big River investigates the environmental impact an acre of corn has had on the people and places downstream from the river it’s near. Record levels of nitrates have been discovered in the Des Moines River. Those are currently floating downstream and into Lake Red Rock. Following the 30-minute feature, there will be a discussion on sustainable agriculture and water quality led by organic dairy farmer Francis Thicke. The event is free and open to the public. It takes place on Tuesday, October 8th at 6:30pm at the Grand Theater in Knoxville.
