Pella High’s display case next to their gym is lined with awards and trophies from years past commemorating all of the success that the Dutch have had over the years. Inside of said-case are several football trophies and accolades. These are part of the reason why football in Pella is so popular. However, Little Dutch head coach, Jay McKinstrey doesn’t measure success of their program or their team by those trophies or the wins and losses in a season. McKinstrey adds that they are still shooting for a state championship each year as one of their goals, and his guys have put in a lot of hard work in the offseason to get prepared to do their best to achieve that. The countdown is T-Minus two days to the football season opener, when the Little Dutch host Marshalltown on Friday night.
