While Michelle Van Maanen will be the newest addition to the Pella Community School Board, she’s no stranger to the faculty, or the board’s current members. Van Maanen is running unopposed in district 1, a seat left vacant when Katie Peterson stepped down last month to focus on family. Van Maanen held a term on the PTO, serving one year as president, and also served two years on the Board Advisory Council. Van Maanen believes that her previous knowledge and interaction with the faculty with help her in her new position. On Monday, we’ll highlight current Board President, and district two candidate Joan Corbin.
