The storm system that passed through Marion County beginning early Thursday dropped a measurable amount of rain. This morning, the KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team went into action when a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for northwest Marion County in the Pleasantville area. KNIA/KRLS News received phone calls of listeners concerned that the partial government shutdown would effect the use of the warning sirens in Knoxville and Pella. This is not the case; the sirens will be in full effect and used when necessary. Officially, we have received 78-hundredths of an inch of rain in the last 24 hours, and a little over .40 in the 8:00 a.m. hour. More rain is expected this evening with stronger storms anticipated to enter the area tonight.
