First Frost is around the corner, and Sherryl Nunnikhoven at Dutch Meadows says the first thing you need to do is decide what is to keep, and what to let go. Plants that you want to keep will need to be covered if you know it’s going to freeze overnight. Nunnikhoven adds that fabric needs to be used to cover plants, since plastic does not work. Also if you are finished with your peppers and tomatoes plants, wrap those with fabric as well. Brad Fllback, from the National Weather Service says the average first frost is between October 6th and 9th. He adds that with the current forecast, he doesn’t expect frost anytime in the foreseeable future.
