The Marion County Democrats met Wednesday night in downtown Pella. Treasurer Phyllis Weeks says that one of the groups ongoing concerns is water quality in the area. She says that when high levels of nitrates were reported in Des Moines over the summer, they decided it was time to make a move and bring public awareness to the issue. Weeks adds that while toxins are filtered out for Des Moines drinking water, the rest continues downstream and ends up in Lake Red Rock.
