Corn yields are coming in much higher than expected, and beans are varying by when they were planted according to Justin Huebner from Two Rivers Cooperative in Pella. Huebner says that beans that avoided the stress of the August heat are coming in at 35 to 50 bushels per acre, and he thinks a good average will be in the low to mid forties for this area, this year. Corn is doing extremely well. Huebner says corn is coming in at 170 to 200 bushels per acre, which he attributes to lower temperatures in July which everyone knows is when corn is made.
