For the fourth time this season, Pella and Knoxville square off on the volleyball courts tonight, but this time, the stakes are much higher. Tonight is the Class 4A regional semifinals, as both the Panthers and Lady Dutch are two wins away from a trip to Cedar Rapids and the state tournament. Pella has won all three contests in this year’s rivalry, including sweeping the best-of-five set conference match earlier this month. After receiving a first round bye, Coach Catie Brand said, in regards to preparations for this evening, her girls will not be focused on who their opponent is, but rather, just getting better themselves. Coach Liz Sanders tells KNIA/KRLS that Ashley Hawkshead and the rest of the team played aggressive on serves and was aggressive at the net in their win over Carlisle. She adds to have a chance tonight against a quick Pella…they will have to do more of the same…The winner plays the survivor of the Norwalk and Indianola match on Tuesday with a trip to state on the line. First serve is scheduled for seven at the Pella High School Gym.
