For the first time in over a decade, three Central men’s basketball players eclipsed the 20-point mark in one game, which helped the Dutch win over Northwestern last night, 88 – 74. Matt Greenfield had a game-high 28 points, Nile Eckermann had 25 and Kevin Kaerwer bucketed 20 himself. The win moves Central to 3 – 1 overall and they will play Dordt College this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Over on the women’s side, they will look for their fifth straight win to start a season for the first time since the 2000-01 campaign, when they host Presentation out of South Dakota tonight. After starting the season with wins of 80 – 71 and 95 – 78, the Dutch have only scored 64 points in their last two games. Coach Chelsea Petersen says for the women’s basketball program to continue to move upward and forward, her girls just simply have to come ready to learn and improve each day in practice and in games. Tonight’s women’s game is at Central and is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
