Arlene Worrall with Knoxville Police Department tells KNIA KRLS News that according to Knoxville City Ordinance, snow removal in Knoxville’s city limits is the responsibility of the property owner. She says City ordinance states property owners need to remove snow within 24 hours. If not, the city may do so and assess removal costs to that property owner, at a minimum of $80, total. She also says residents may not move snow onto another’s property or into the right-of-way, and snow may not be piled higher than 24 inches along sidewalks, streets or within 50 feet of intersections.
