A rare Ross’s Gull was recently spotted near the Cordova boat ramp at Lake Red Rock. Birding enthusiast Aaron Brees captured a photo of the little white gull, with pearly blue wings and a pink underside on December 1, and his photo has gained national attention, bringing visitors to Lake Red Rock from around the country. Brees says the bird is rarely seen south of the Arctic Circle, and the Alaskan coastline is usually the best place in the United States to see it.
