When it snows, Knoxville’s snow ordinance remains in effect until all streets have been plowed, curb to curb. Arlene Worrall, Community Services Officer for the City of Knoxville says all vehicles must be removed from the streets so that crews can plow the streets when it snows. Additionally, she says that city ordinance requires that sidewalks be cleared by 24 hours after snow stops falling. If snow is not cleared from private property, the city may do it and removal fees will be assessed to the homeowner. Worrall adds that while the ordinance is in effect, it is permissible for cars to be parked in your yard – something that is not typically allowed in Knoxville.
