The Knoxville City Council held their first meeting of the new year last night. New mayor Brian Hatch presided and new council member Dawn Allspach-Kline joined Tim Pitt, re-elected councilman Dave Roozeboom, April Verwers and Carolyn Formanek in attendance. The first order of business was the oath of office for the city clerk Heather Ussery and deputy city clerk Jodi Bassett. The council discussed a request to rename the Knoxville Recreation Center “The James L. Bell Recreation Center,” and agreed the name will not change. The purchase of a new salt spreader was approved, as the current one does not spread salt well and binds up when the salt gets moist. Finally, the Council set meetings for 2014 for the first and third Mondays at 6:15 pm.
