The extreme cold we are seeing this winter is forecast to last awhile, says WeatherEye Meteorologist Greg Tatro. He says the northern parts of Canada didn’t really warm up this past summer, and that arctic air is pushing southward, affecting us here in Marion County with colder than normal temperatures very likely for us all winter. He says temps should continue to recover Tuesday and we’ll be back in the 20s by Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning for Marion county, effective until noon on Tuesday. Bitterly cold air temperatures will settle in and wind chills are forecast to be between 40 and 50 below zero today.
