The Iowa State Patrol reports that the conditions on area roadways are variable, ranging from normal winter driving conditions to very slick. The Marion County Sheriffs office reports that conditions on paved roads are also variable, and slick in places. Gravel roads are up to 90% ice covered and very slick. Road crews are in operation, and there are reports of numerous vehicles in ditches in the county. Wind speeds may also play a role in commuting this morning. Wind speeds are over 30mph as of 6:30AM, and gusts are reported as hight as 42mph on the Mile Long Bridge over Lake Red Rock. Officials urge caution as you travel this morning, and to take plenty of time to get to your destination, and to leave room for our road crews and first responders to work.
