State Senator Ken Roozenboom tells KNIA/KRLS News that the big item on their agenda this week was a proposed 6% increase for schools in supplemental state aid, which was formerly known as allowable growth, that passed in the Senate on a 26-23 party line vote. Roozenboom says that six of the past 12 years, the approved increases have been unable to be fully funded, leaving a 6% increase unsustainable in his opinion. Roozenboom adds that he believes a 3% or 4% increase will eventually be approved, after the larger increase dies a quick and sudden death in the House of Representatives.
