High-School

A Knoxville School employee is on paid administrative leave amidst allegations of improper conduct with a high school student. Police reports show the alleged incidents took place between May 2013 and January 2014, at the school and at a Carlisle home with an address matching that of Knoxville Football Coach and PE Teacher Troy Rider. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says the district is cooperating with the Knoxville Police Department in the investigation of the alleged incident. Dr. Flack says “our primary concern is the safety of our students.”

Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada tells KNIA KRLS News that the girl and her mother made reports to the school, as well as to the Knoxville Police Department, regarding misconduct.

Troy Rider came to Knoxville School District in 2010, after coaching for Dowling Catholic in Des Moines, and teaching at Des Moines East. Rider just completed his 4th season with the Knoxville football program.

Police say the investigation could take days or even weeks.
