Senator Charles Grassley recently voted against the farm bill. He says there are reasons why. He says it didn’t contain his payment limitation, which he says is trying to solve the problem of 10% of the farmers getting 70% of the benefits from the program. He says the other problem is defining who is and is not a farmer, so those who are not cannot get benefits from the program. He says that measure could stop abuse of the program. Grassley says his amendment would have saved $187million, had it been left in the bill.
