Marion County’s Board of Supervisors is coming toward the finish line of the budgeting process. Supervisor Mark Raymie says the county’s valuation has gone up, and taking that into account, the supervisors want to do some levy reductions. He estimates right now a 20 to 30 cent levy reduction. He says the county departments have all done a very good job carving out things that are not needed. He says there is more work to do, but he says it has to be incremental; these budgets came into being over years, and radical alterations are unrealistic, as services still need to be provided. He says final approval is slated for the end of February or early March.
