Wednesday the Pella comprehensive plan project team held a work session in the morning, followed by a public presentation later in the day. The project team worked with the public on ideas to enhance downtown Pella, and Pella Planning and Zoning Director George Wesselhoft says they had nearly two dozen attendees. Wesselhoft says it was a great session, and some of the ideas put forth for discussion were an ice skating area in Central Park, and increased pedestrian and bike trails, among other items. Wednesday evening the city and their firm for the project, RDG, presented their take on some of the ideas from the morning meeting to the public, again with a special focus on the downtown area. Wesselhoft says that it will be after Tulip Time before the project team has additional public meetings, but he wants to thank all involved and says the process is working the way it was intended.
