Severe weather awareness week continues through the end of this week. Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says planning ahead is crucial in the event your home takes a direct hit by a storm. He recommends to make a plan with your family to have a common meeting place where everyone knows to gather if you cannot get home, or if your home is destroyed. He adds that an alternate meeting place is wise, as well, in case your first choice is also hit. Another suggestion Chief Losada has is to find a social media site and post there that you are OK after a storm, so if you have family members out of the area and phone service is interrupted or busy, they can check that site. There will be a tornado drill Wednesday morning between 10 and 10:30, for all of Marion County as well.
