A bill that would allow a state tax break of up to $2 million to help pay for a major expansion project at the Knoxville Raceway has passed out of an Iowa House Ways and Means Subcommittee by a vote of 23-1, Raceway General Manager and Promoter Brian Stickel tells KNIA KRLS News. Stickel says the next step is to go to the full House for a vote, then to the Senate Ways and Means subcommittee. Stickel adds that he is hopeful for the bill to pass completely. If approved, the bill would provide a rebate up to $2 million in state sales tax, and would cover up to a quarter of the cost of the expansion project.
