The Klompen Classic wasn’t limited to people residing in Marion County.

The event saw runners come from across the state…and some from outside of Iowa. The winner of the 80 and over division of the race 82 year old Dick Lautenbach is originally from Pella, but now resides in Colorado. He always enjoys his time back home in Pella, and this race has become a bit of a tradition for him. Lautenbach finished third in the 80-and-over division last year’s race, and he plans on running the race again next year.
