The City of Knoxville has codes regarding how to dispose of yard waste. Arlene Worrall, Community Service Officer for the City of Knoxville tells KNIA KRLS News that leaves and branches smaller than 3 inches in diameter, can be burned. She says there must be a water source capable of dousing the fire if it should get out of hand, and the burning must be on your property, and not on any street or alley, or in ditches adjoining the traveled portion of streets. She also asks that anyone planning a burn call the Sheriff’s Office, so officials are aware of any fires in the community.
