Recently, Helping Hands of Marion County received a donation of the former Disciples of Christ church building at 213 North First Street, from Knoxville resident Dave Roozeboom. Pastor Bob Smith and Chuck Galeazzi, with Helping Hands, tell KNIA KRLS News that they plan to remove the lean-to on the east side of the building and build a garage to house the truck they use for deliveries, and they want to renovate the inside of the building, also. They say they would like to offer meals for kids who might be on the free and reduced lunch plan at school and may not get enough to eat at home over the summer months. The two say plans will be affirmed once ownership of the building is legally changed.
