Bird, Brian Lee

Marion County Attorney Ed Bull tells KNIA KRLS News that Brian Lee Bird, formerly of Fort Dodge, pled guilty on May 20 to Election Misconduct in the First Degree, a class D felony. At that time, his probation for domestic abuse was revoked, and Bird was sent to prison for 5 years. At the time of the offense, Bird was residing in Marion County. Bull says the case was investigated by the DCI, as part of their review of felons voting, and it was determined that Bird was a felon, knew it, and voted in the 2012 general election. Bull credits the DCI and the Secretary of State’s office in the investigation. He says this is the first time he’s heard of a voting fraud case in Marion County, and believes the Auditor’s office does an oustanding job of ensuring those who should not vote, do not.
