Park rangers and law enforcement officials are encouraging boaters to stay sober as they operate boats this holiday weekend. Park ranger Tracy Spry with the Army Corps of Engineers says alcohol will impair the operation of any vehicle–on land or water. She says the wind and sun can also wear a person out while drinking and that can also impair behavior. Spry says that it’s important to also stay hydrated and attentive to all people on your boat and to make sure that everyone wears a life jacket.
