The Knoxville Baseball bats were blazing last night as the Panthers combined for 34 runs to sweep Pella Christian in a double header 18-6 in game one and 16-4 in the nightcap to send fans home early. The Eagles got out to a lead in both games, but Knoxville responded in a big way each time, highlighted by a Jared McClung three run homer. Bryce Zoutte earned the win in game one to raise his record to 4-0 on the season. In the second game, Knoxville found itself down 4-2 in the early going but plated seven runs and sent ten batters to the plate to get a 9-4 lead. Knoxville would bat around again in the fifth getting seven more runs. Coach Joel Johnson said a lot of positive things happened from the hitting to getting younger guys valuable experience. Meanwhile for Pella Christian Coach Nate Johnson told KNIA/KRLS Sports his team gave up too many big innings. Colton Collins and Josh Rolffs got R-B-Is for the Eagles, while Ross Shelford was 3/4 for Knoxville and Jake Kendall had three R-B-I. Kendall also earned the win in relief for the Panthers while Andrew VanderHart took the loss. Knoxville is now 10-7 on the season and 5-4 in the Little Hawkeye Conference while Pella Christian is 4-11 and 0-9 in the conference.
