Young’s Park in Knoxville is getting some revitalizing work done, and this week, there is a new fence being installed at the ball diamond along Highway 14, in right field. Earlier this year, the City Council approved a “Big Green Monster,” in a nod to Boston’s Fenway Park’s famous fence. The reason behind the installation is to improve safety for when heavy hitters at Knoxville’s ball field knock them out of the park. The fence is 20 feet high and is green vinyl link fence. Des Moines Steel Fence crews were on site Thursday afternoon putting up the poles, which are set in 4 feet of concrete beneath ground level.
