The Melcher-Dallas softball squad will match up with Martensdale-St. Mary’s at 7:30 Monday evening, and the proceeds from the game will go to benefit the American Cancer Society. Saints Coach Nick Ellis says the team will donate the gate, and are also selling t-shirts during the game. He says the effort is similar to Knoxville’s Coaches vs. Cancer, and is the first event of the kind for Melcher-Dallas. He says the plan is for this to become an annual event, and he says if it can grow half as big as Coaches vs. Cancer, his club will be pleased.
