The City of Pella is hoping to highlight their flower program nationally. The City is planning to be a part of the “America in Bloom National Awards Program” when a panel of judges comes to town on July 14th and July 15th. This summer the City is planting over 27,000 annual flowers in 76 park flower beds and 121 street-side beds. They have installed “garden creatures” to the beds in Central Park. The judges will determine Pella’s ranking in six categories including: Floral Displays, Landscaped Areas, Urban Forestry, Environmental Efforts, Heritage Preservation and Overall Impression. For more information on the City of Pella’s flower program contact the Community Services Department.
