The KNIA KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was called into action at about 1:20 Monday afternoon. The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Marion County. Two KNIA KRLS staff and National Weather Service trained spotters called in reports from Pleasantville and north of Knoxville along Highway 14, and three staff members read reports live on the air and took calls from WeatherEye Meteorologists. A tornado warning was issued at 1:45. Callers from surrounding communities including Monroe called in reports of high winds, limbs down and flooded streets. The warnings were all allowed to expire by 2:45 pm, as the storms moved into Mahaska County, but the storms left flash flood warnings in their wake for the remainder of the day.
