Recent rainfall across the state is filling up area streams and lakes. A flood warning remains in effect for portions of the Des Moines River from Saylorville to Lake Red Rock and along the South Skunk River from Colfax to Oskaloosa until Friday night. Water flows in excess of 30,000 cubic feet per second are expected in parts of the Des Moines River. Moderate flooding is forecasted for the South Skunk River, which is forecasted to reach 19.4 at Colfax, the fourth highest total on record. Remember to never drive through water covering any roadway and to watch our for excess debris and strong currents during floods on rivers and streams.
