Pella is celebrating Independence Day with a variety activities throughout the day Friday. Fishing at Caldwell Park, with poles and bait provided, is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Pony rides on Franklin Street will start in the morning and go until 1 p.m. Games and activities, including frog jumping contest, inflatables, and a dunk tank, start at 11 in central park. The parade down Franklin Street starts at 1:30 at East 2nd Street. Kids can show up to participate in the parade in costume and win prizes on the day of. Adults who want to be in the parade should contact Paul Kingma to register. The Aquatic Center is open from 4 to 7 p.m. In case of rain, events will be moved to Saturday.
