A blowout and a slim margin-of-victory went PCM softball’s way yesterday in a pair of Heart of Iowa Conference contests in Monroe. The Mustangs took down CMB, 13 – 1 in four innings, then ended the night with an 8 – 7 victory over North Polk. There were several exclamation points offensively for PCM, including a 6-for-7 twinbill for Abbi Gilson, who also drove in four runs. Krystal Pendroy had three hits, Jen Uitermarkt had four with a triple, and MacKenna VanVeen was 4-for-7 with an RBI. PCM baseball had a tougher time putting the bat on the ball, as they came up empty in the hit column against the Comets, 7 – 0. Dillon Bruxvoort came in and pitched four shutout innings out of the bullpen and allowed just three hits and two walks. The Mustangs’ boys are 11 – 11 while softball improves to 19 – 7.
