As recently reported by KNIA KRLS News, the Knoxville Public Library is the recipient of a $5000 grant from the Marion County Community Foundation. The grant is designated for an instrument lending program, with the goal of getting kids in band who might not otherwise get the opportunity due to the high cost of those instruments. Library Director Roslin Thompson says they are very pleased to receive the grant, and the funds will go towards the purchase of the instruments. She says as far as they can tell, this is the first program of its kind in Iowa.
