An $8 million dollar senior housing project may be coming to Knoxville. City Manager Harold Stewart tells KNIA/KRLS News that the Miller-Valentine Group is seeking a Community Development Block Grant for approximately $3 million to help fund the project.
The housing would consist of 40-50 units, and would be at the old Contel building on West Jackson. That building would be razed for the new construction. Stewart says the council is behind the project, and that anticipating the needs of retiring baby boomers is good for the community both socially and economically.
