Area residents north of the Des Moines River continue to bring in blue ribbons from the 2014 Iowa State Fair.

Oren Roorda of Pella took home two first place prizes in the Wood Chopping contest in the Buck Saw and Bow Saw categories. Brenda Becker earned more prizes for her baking, as she won first place in the Frost Cut Out class in the Nan’s Nummiest Cookies contest. In the Maine Tainer Cattle Show, Blueprint Cattle Company of Otley claimed Grand Champion Female Honors. Gerald Leffler of Monroe won first place in Class B of the Horseshoe Pitching Tournament.
