A Knoxville man was arrested over the weekend after he pulled a gun on his ex-wife and son.

The Knoxville Police Department arrested 63-year-old Tyler Mitchell Sr. at 9:44pm Saturday night after responding to a man with a gun call on Montgomery Street.

During the investigation, officers discovered Mitchell Sr. had pointed a rifle at his ex-wife and son and threatened to kill them both. Mitchell Sr. did admit to officers he had the rifle out, but would not say what his intentions were. Officers also noticed a strong smell of alcohol on Mitchell Sr.’s breath and his eyes were bloodshot.

Mitchell Sr. is charged with two counts each of Felony Going Armed With Intent and Harassment and one count of public intoxication.

Court records indicate he has previously pled guilty to domestic abuse, assault, and drug charges.
