Noah Clayberg looked as good as ever, the Pella High defense was stout, and the Little Dutch toppled Washington in a battle of top five ranked football teams in Class 3A last night, 35 – 0. Pella’s defense forced two fumbles, and stopped the Demons on four fourth down conversion attempts. Clayberg had as good of an opening night as a quarterback could have, rushing for 182 yards, throwing for 69 more, and had a hand in all five of Pella’s scores, including an 86-yard run from scrimmage to begin the second half. Pella starts the season 1 – 0, and they’ll try to take down Dallas Center – Grimes at home in Week Two this Friday.
