A Knoxville man will be in court today to face charges in an alleged assault case.

33-year-old Adam Lombardi is charged with going armed with intent and assault causing bodily injury.

According to court documents, Lombardi allegedly attacked a man sleeping at a residence on Marion Street after accusing the victim of taking something from him. The victim told police Lombardi struck him with a baseball bat then punched him about four or five times in the back of the head until another person broke up the assault.

Lombardi pled not guilty to the charges last month.
