Pleasantville’s girls were involved in some Saturday tournament volleyball action, and they came away with a 2 – 3 mark at Martensdale – St. Mary’s invitational. The Trojans’ three losses came to Van Meter in three sets, 13 – 21, 21 – 13, and 7 – 15; to the host Blue Devils in two, 12 – 21 and 14 – 21, and to Earlham in straight games. Pleasantville did topple Murray in three, and Montezuma as well in three, 16 – 21, 23 – 21, and 15 – 9. Kennedy Core recorded 48 kills and 44 digs, Alli Friday had 71 assists, and Bailey Oliva and Avari Heinz-Pence notched 23 kills each. Pleasantville’s record is 15 – 8, and they will participate in the Pride of Iowa Conference Tournament starting on Monday.
