Knoxville Community School District has been recognized for being green while they clean.

The district joined the AmSan Insight Educational Program this year in an effort to use environmentally-friendly cleaning practices and has already achieved gold status, according to Superintendent Cassi Murra.

Knoxville Community Schools joined more than 20 schools and colleges in Iowa currently enrolled in the program, including Pella and Central College.

Murra says the district will continue to strive for the next level and hope to achieve platinum status by next spring.
